Question:
Why did Samson kill himself? Samson didn’t actually kill himself, but gave himself to kill the Lord’s enemies. (Read Judges 16:21-31.) This was somewhat like what the Lord Jesus did…giving His life to defeat the enemy.
Answer:
In Touch was a publication to encourage Young People in their walk with the Lord, and to help young people in different places to keep in touch with each other. It was published December of 1992 through December 2016. The questions asked by the young people with the answers are available here for your spiritual benefit. The author is either the author of the answer, or the person who took the notes at the retreat or conference.

Since Jesus had not died in the Old Testament days, where did people go when they died?
Answer:
We know that although physically dead, the OT saints were still spiritually alive (Matthew
Question:
Who is the King of the Jews?
Answer:
The first king was Saul, although God’s choice was David. Jesus was recognized by the wise men as the true King of Israel (Matthew 2:1,2). Jesus, Himself, acknowledged that He was King of the Jews (Luke 23:3), although the people did not want Him to be their king (Luke
Question:
Why did Jesus choose 12 disciples?
Answer:
Jesus chose these men so that He could teach them. They were able to help Him in His ministry and faithfully carry out His Word after His death and resurrection. “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 15:16, NKJV). The Spirit of God gives four reasons that He chose the apostles: “He appointed twelve, (1) that they might be with Him and (2) that He might send them out to preach, and (3) to have power to heal sicknesses and (4) to cast out demons” (Mark 3:14, 15, NKJV). The number “twelve” in Scripture indicates responsibility…there were 12 tribes of Israel. The Lord knew all about Judas (John 6:70), but chose him that the Scriptures might be fulfilled. (Edited).
Question:
How do you stop peer pressure?
Answer:
We all have peer pressure. Not just teens feel the pressure of people to do things we know we should not. If we are feeling pressured to do something that is wrong, we need to tell our friend that we are a Christian and want to do the Lord’s will.
Question:
The Lord said in John Although David wrote this concerning himself, the true fulfillment of these verses is found in the Lord Jesus while on the cross. The young people seemed to enjoy the exercises of finding Jesus in type and in prophecy in the Old Testament. May we all learn to find Jesus in the OT because, “They are they which testify of Me.”

Question:
The Lord said in John
Answer:
Jesus is represented by the Passover lamb. We then discussed some of the particulars of the story.
Question:
The Lord said in John
Answer:
Two answers were given: 1 – Isaac represents Jesus because he was the only son of Abraham and willingly obeyed his father. 2 – The ram represents Jesus because he was substituted for Isaac. We began to explore both answers. 1. Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born (Genesis 21:5). Most writers say that Isaac was a young man when this incident occurred. We learned that Isaac probably could have stopped his father from offering him as a sacrifice, but he willingly obeyed his father. Jesus, Himself, was obedient unto death (Philippians 2:5-8), so Isaac is a good type of Christ here. The question was asked, “Why did God refer to Isaac as his only son, when Abraham had another son, Ishmael?” Through discussion, we learned that Isaac was the son of promise, and he was the one that God recognized as His own promise to Abraham. We read Proverbs 8:22-31 to show that Jesus was the daily delight of His Father, even as Isaac was the daily delight of Abraham. In Hebrews 11:17, we see that Isaac is called his father’s “only begotten son.” The only other person referred to as an “only begotten son” is Jesus Himself (John 2. While on the way to make the sacrifice, Isaac asked his father where the sacrifice was. Abraham responded that “God will provide Himself a lamb.” We read in John 1: 29,36 that John the Baptist, upon seeing Jesus, declared that He was “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” So, we recognized that both Isaac and the ram were “types” of Jesus. We also looked at the first type of Jesus in the Bible when God killed animals to cover the nakedness (sin) of Adam and Eve (Genesis
Question:
What happens to the body, spirit, and soul of the believer after death?
Answer:
For the believer, when we are absent from the body (dead), we are present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8; Luke
Question:
Please break down the difference between soul and spirit.
Answer:
This is not easily done. It can be confusing to try to determine the precise difference between the two. In fact, it takes the Word of God to really divide between the soul and spirit (Hebrews
Question:
Why did God give Adam and Eve only one chance, but gives us chance after chance?
Answer:
Were Adam and Eve born in sin? – No, they were innocent when God made them. After they sinned we are told that: “The LORD God said, ‘Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil’” (Genesis 3:22). Were you born in sin? Yes, you and all the descendants of Adam and Even have been born in sin. David, led by the Spirit of God wrote: “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me” (Psalm 51:5). The governmental hand of God moved when Adam and Eve sinned. In disobeying God, they died spiritually and would someday die physically. Just as the Lord said would happen when He gave them one commandment: “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”(Genesis 2:16, 17). Even then, the Lord covered their nakedness with the skins of animals (Genesis “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels” (Isaiah 61:10). “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:20, 21). (Edited)
Question:
If what comes from the heart is evil, why does God want us to love Him with all our hearts?
Answer:
Of course, when the heart is spoken of here, it is not the literal blood-pumping organ that is being referred to. It is the spirit and soul of a person…his intellectual and emotional being. The heart of the believer is capable of knowing, loving, and obeying God. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, He gives us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). Does the Lord ask the unsaved man to love him with all his heart? No. Without knowing the love and forgiveness of Christ, one cannot and does not love the Lord. If an unsaved person prays, the Lord does not respond (Isaiah 59:1,2; John
Question:
What would happen when you are a sinner if you kill someone and go to jail, and then repent? Would you go to Heaven or to Hell?
Answer:
When we accept Christ as our Savior, before God we become brand new (2 Corinthians
Question:
Why should we love others?
John 13:34,35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” By loving others we are a good testimony to the world and are a shining light for the Lord, and by following His commandments for us we are loving the Lord. We can show that love to others by putting them before ourselves as in Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.” We also talked a lot about walking in the light rather than darkness so that we can have fellowship with the Lord. 1 John 1:7: “But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” We are supposed to do as it says in Romans 12:1,2 – present our bodies to God as a sacrifice, and as in 1 John 1:9 – confess our sins before Him in order to have that fellowship restored.
Question:
Why do we love the Lord?
Answer:
Romans 5:1: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” We love the Lord because He has given us this peace, and we know that we are made right with God through the blood of His Son. Some other references were Ephesians 2:4-8; 1 John 3:1; and 1 John 4:19.
Question:
Why should we love God and where do we read about our love for God?
Answer:
Deuteronomy 6:5: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” The Lord should come first in our life just as He put us before Himself.
Verses that were given as to why we should love God were: Psalm 139:14: “I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works,” and John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Some reasons that we should love the Lord are because He made us, and He gave His Son to die for us. The ultimate reason that we should love the Lord is 1 John 4:19: “We love, because He first loved us.”
Question:
Why was the book of Hebrews written to Jewish Christians?
To encourage those who were being persecuted; because things that had been taught in the Old Testament had now passed away; to show the Excellency of Christ to Old Testament law, prophets, Moses, and angels; and to establish Christ’s superior priesthood and sacrifice.
Question:
Who wrote the book of Hebrews?
Some think that Barnabas wrote it. Some say Timothy. Some say Paul. Hebrews
The fact that the human writer is not mentioned shows that the attention is be on the Lord and the Holy Spirit who guided that person to write it. (Edited).
Question:
What does the word Devil mean? Devil is a New Testament word that means “false accuser.” The Greek word is diabolos Strong’s #1228. In the King James Version this word is translated “devil” 35 times, “false accuser” 2 times and “slanderer” 1 time with the total: 38 times. The Greek Lexicon gives the meaning of diabolos to be: 1) prone to slander, slanderous, accusing falsely, 1a) a calumniator, false accuser, slanderer, 2) metaph. applied to a man who, by opposing the cause of God, may be said to act the part of the devil or to side with him Other names for the devil are Lucifer, Satan, Beelzebub, Belial, Prince and Power of the air, Roaring Lion. God created Lucifer (morning star), but he fell because of his pride (read Isaiah 14:12-15), and by his fall he became Satan, Beelzebub, etc. (Edited).

Question:
Why didn’t God just tell Abraham where He wanted Abraham to go in Genesis 12:1?
Answer:
The Lord wanted Abraham to act in faith and to walk in faith, seeking His will daily. If the Lord had told Abraham exactly where to go, it would have been possible for Abraham to reach his destination without crying out daily to the Lord.
Psalm 86:2,3 – “Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O Thou my God, save Thy servant that trusteth in Thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto Thee daily.”
Question:
Why did God make people like Noah do things that made him seem so strange (building an ark when there was no rain)?
Answer:
The unsaved world never understands the ways and thoughts of a Christian. They are foreign to them: 1 Corinthians 1:27 – “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 – “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
God wanted Noah to trust Him, which he did—believing that what God asked him to do was for the best and this is what Noah did: “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith” (Hebrews 11:7). What God told Noah to do (build an ark to the saving of his family) was not “strange” to even those who perished when the flood came!
God has the best for you, even though He has “appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man [Jesus] whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead” (Acts 17:31). “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
“Flee [to Christ] from the wrath to come” (Matthew 3:7). “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). “Time is short” (1 Corinthians 7:29). Tomorrow may be too late!
Question:
I really love this girl, but she doesn’t love me. What should I do?
Genesis 2:18 – “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
A few extra comments that were made:
· A wife is to be a helpmeet (a helper in your life for the Lord)
· Matrimony is ordained by God
· Marriage is for better or worse (and there will be both in a marriage)
· Marriage is one man married to one woman for life
· Before marriage, participate in group activities to avoid possible problems created by being alone with the opposite sex
Question:
Who wrote the book of Revelation?
Revelation 1:4 – “John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from Him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before His throne.”
We know this is not John the Baptist because he was killed during the earthly lifetime of the Lord Jesus. Read Matthew 14:1-12 for the account of John the Baptist’s murder.
Question:
What is unconditional love?
Answer:
Compare Romans
Question:
Is the love of Jesus unconditional love? Yes, the love of Jesus is unconditional, undeserved, and unlimited. Jeremiah 31:3 – “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
Answer:
Question:
Can you go to heaven if you got shot or injured, and right before you die you say, “God forgive me?”
If you truly seek salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, you will be saved. However, don’t wait because you may not get the opportunity if death comes quickly. Luke 23:42 – “And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom.” (Read the whole portion in Luke 23:32-43.) 2 Corinthians 6:2 – “(For He saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”
Question:
If, as a Christian, you die after you have sinned, will you still go to heaven?
Answer:
Yes, if you are truly saved, you will go to be with the Lord when you die…even if it is immediately after you’ve committed a sin.
1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Romans 8:38,39 – “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Question:
When you walk in faith, and if you are justified by faith, will your bond with God be tougher?
Answer:
As we walk with the Lord, the bond we have with Him becomes sweeter and more precious to us. However, as we walk in fellowship with the Lord, the world will take notice and will persecute us, try to destroy our testimony, or try to compromise our testimony. 2 Timothy 3:12 – “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” Philippians 1:29 – “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His sake.” John 15:18 – “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you.”
Question:
If you are a Christian, beside praying and reading the Bible, how can you develop a better relationship with the Lord?
Answer:
John 13:34, 35 – The world will know we are the Lord’s disciples when we love one another. Acts 2:42 encourages us to continue “in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Hebrews 10:25 teaches us that we should be faithful to attend the meetings. The Lord is honored in this, plus, we grow in the Lord when we fellowship with fellow believers.
Question:
If a parent is skeptical about your Christianity, what can I do to help them? 1 Peter 3:1 – “Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the Word, they also may without the Word be won by the conversation of the wives.” Even as a wife can influence her unsaved husband greatly by her works, a child can exhibit Christ to his/her parents by their actions. Ephesians 6:1 tells children to obey their parents in the Lord. It’s hard to have a good testimony before our parents if we disobey the Word by disobeying our parents.
