Lord of glory, we adore Thee (15)

Lord of glory, we adore Thee,
Christ of God, ascended high!
Heart and soul we bow before Thee!
Glorious now beyond the sky:
Thee we worship, Thee we praise,
Excellent in all Thy ways.

Anointed King, with glory crowned,
Rightful heir and Lord of all!
Once rejected, scorned, disowned,
Even by those Thou camest to call:
Thee we honor, Thee adore,
Glorious now and evermore.

Lord of life! to death once subject;
Blesser, yet a curse once made;
Of Thy Father’s heart the Object,
Yet in depths of anguish laid:
Thee we gaze on, Thee recall,
Bearing here our sorrows all.

Royal robes shall soon invest Thee,
Royal splendors crown Thy brow;
Christ of God, our souls confess Thee-
King and Sovereign even now!
Thee we reverence, Thee obey-
Own Thee Lord and Christ alway.

Through the vail God bids me enter (65)

Through the vail God bids me enter
By the new and living way;
Not in trembling hope I venture
Boldly I His call obey:
There, with Christ my God, I meet
God upon the mercy seat!

O the welcome I have found there
God in all His love made known!
O the glory that surrounds there
Those accepted in His Son!
Who can tell the depths of bliss
Spoken by the Father’s kiss?

All His joy told out unhindered
Nought but Christ His eye can see!
Christ into His joy has entered,
And in Christ He welcomes me:
Would I know how dear to God?
Priceless as Christ’s precious blood!

All the worth I have before Him
Is the value of the blood:
I present, when I adore Him,
Christ, the First-fruits, unto God.
Him with joy doth God behold:
Thus is my acceptance told!

Place of glory, place of blessing,
Place where God His heart displays!
All in Thee, O Christ, possessing,
Thine the voice that leads our praise!
Thine the new eternal song,
Through the ages borne along!

"Jesus only!" in the shadow (128)

"Jesus only!" in the shadow
Of the cloud so chill and dim!
We are clinging, loving, trusting,
He with us, and we with him,
All unseen, though ever nigh,_
"Jesus only!" all our cry!

"Jesus only!" in the glory,
When the shadows all are flown!
Seeing Him in all His beauty,
Satisfied with Him alone,
There amidst the ransomed throng,
"Jesus only!" all our song!

Wearily my spirit sinketh (127)

Wearily my spirit sinketh,
Into Jesus’ heart and hands,
Calmly trusting, though the journey,
Lie through strange untrodden lands:
All my Spirit is at rest,
On the loving Father’s breast.

There my spirit cannot murmur-
Pleased with all that may betide;
What the will of self would cherish
Is already crucified:
Buried is each murmuring word
In the grave of Christ my Lord.

There my spirit knows no darkness-
Love remains when all is gone;
Sorrows crushing soul and body
Find my spirit not alone:
Resting in Christ’s blessed light,
Fears she not this earthly night.

Thus on God my spirit waiteth-
Even so doth overcome
Silently enduring all things,
Mockery or martyrdom:
Like a silent sea doth lie,
Full of praise to God most high!

Far within the depths of glory (101)

Far within the depths of glory,
In the Father’s house above,
We have learnt His wondrous secret,
We have learnt His heart of love,
There, with Christ, first fruits have shared
Of the joys God hath prepared!

Lo, we see the glorious city,
Shining with light of God;
Hear the song that fills the heavens-
Cheers us on the midnight road
Thee, blest Singer, well we know-
Prove Thy love where’er we go!

Thy companions here, in sorrow,
In rejections, toil and loss,
We but prove Love’s wondrous sweetness,
Learn to glory in Thy cross,
Learn to sing amidst the gloom-
Sing with Thee-the songs of home!

In The Lord We Have Redemption ( 62 )

In the Lord we have redemption,
Full remission in His blood;
From the curse entire exemption,
From the curse pronounced by God:
What a Savior Jesus is!
O what grace, what love is His!

Sweet His name, that name transcending
Every name on earth, in heaven;
Praise through ages never-ending,
To the Son of God be given!
He alone the Savior is,
Everlasting praise be His.

Soft The Voice Of Mercy Sounded ( 138 )

Soft the voice of mercy sounded,
Sweet as music to the ear.
"Grace abounds where sin abounded;"
This the word that soothed our fear.
Grace, the sweetest sound we know,
Grace to sinners here below.

Grace, we sing, God’s grace through Jesus;
Grace, the spring of peace to man;
Grace, that from each sorrow frees us;
Grace, too high for thought to scan;
Grace, the theme of God’s own love;
Grace, the theme, all themes above.

Lord, Thy Love Has Sought And Found Us ( A31 )

Lord, Thy love has sought and found us
Wandering in this desert wide,
Thou hast thrown Thine arms around us,
For us suffered, bled, and died:
Sing, my soul! He loved thee,
Jesus gave Himself for me.

Hark! what sounds of bitter weeping,
From yon lonesome garden sweep,
‘Tis the Lord His vigil keeping,
Whilst His followers sink in sleep.
Ah, my soul, He loved thee,
Yea, He gave Himself for me.

He is speaking to His Father,
Tasting deep that bitter cup
Yet He takes it willing rather
For our sakes to drink it up.
Oh what love! He loved me!
Gave Himself, my soul for thee.

Then that closing scene of anguish;
All God’s waves and billows roll
Over Him, there left to languish
On the cross to save my soul.
Matchless love! how vast, how free,
Jesus gave Himself for me.

Hark again! those cries are waking
Echoes on dark Calvary’s hill;
God, my God, art Thou forsaking
Him who always did Thy will?
Ah, my soul! it was for thee,
Yes! He gave Himself for me.

Lord, we joy, Thy toils are ended,
Glad Thy suffering time is o’er,
To Thy Father’s throne ascended,
There Thou liv’st to die no more.
Yes, my soul! He lives for thee,
He who gave Himself for me.

Lord, we worship and adore Thee
For Thy rich, Thy matchless grace,
Perfect soon in joy before Thee,
We shall see Thee face to face.
Yet e’en now our song shall be,
Jesus gave Himself for me.
