There are two types of Fear mentioned in the Bible. The first is to be afraid, terrified, or to dread. The second type of fear mentioned in the Bible is to Stand In Awe, Reverence, Honour, Respect, or Obey. Today we will be looking at this second type of Fear.
Some examples of fearing the Lord.
Ezra 7:10 – Prepare, Seek, Do, Teach
Ezra 8:21 – Fast, Humble, Seek
Ezra 9:4 – Trembled
Ezra 10:1 – Praying, Confessing, Weeping, Bowing
What does it mean to Fear The Lord?
Psalms 89:7 – God is greatly to be feared.
Hebrews 12:28 – Serving the Lord must be in reverence and Godly fear.
Psalms 111:10 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Proverbs 1:7 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
Psalms 147:10-11 – The Lord takes pleasure in them that fear Him.
Psalms 25:9, 12 – The Lord teaches those that fear Him.
Psalms 25:14 – The secret of the Lord is with those that fear Him. – Daniel feared the Lord and the Lord revealed secrets of what was to come to Daniel.
Psalms 33:18 – The Lord’s eye is on those that fear Him.
Psalms 33: 8 – In the future all the earth will stand in awe or fear Him.
Psalms 34: 8-9 – There is no want in those that fear Him. We are blessed if we trust Him.
Psalms 128:1-2 – We are blessed or happy if we fear Him.
Psalms 119: 63 – He is a companion of those that fear Him. Our friends should be those that fear Him.
Psalms 112: 1 – Blessed are those that fear him and delight in His Word.
Malachi 3:16-17 – When we fear the Lord we will speak of Him to each other. And the Lord will hear and write a book of remembrance.
