Answer: Faith comes to us by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). God gives us faith to accept what He says if we listen to His Word.
We owe everything about our salvation to Him. Even though God says that we must choose to trust in Christ: “Whosoever will may come,” yet God chose those who do believe in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4; Romans 8:29, 32). Since God’s thoughts are far higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8) we cannot understand how both God and we must chose for us to be saved, but nevertheless, this is the truth of God. Any pride we may have is taken away when we realize that God chose us before the worlds began. This causes us to want to please Him who loved us so much that He wants us to be in His presence as His sons for all eternity.
