Answer: God’s instruction to His people in the Old Testament was different than His direction is to us today.
We are ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20, 21), and our purpose is to represent Him. He has not told us to join in the politics of this world, but we are called to “please Him” (2 Timothy 2:4), and to “preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15) so souls can be saved from the judgment this world is soon to experience. Even if we were involved successfully and influenced laws for good, what value is it? The world is still soon to be judged (Acts 17:31). The world is like a ship that’s going down. Should we be painting and fixing up the ship or throwing out the lifelines?
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God." 2 Timothy 2:15
