Question:
What happens when we are saved?
Answer:
We “have passed from death unto life” for Jesus says: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life” (John 5:24, NKJV).
And there are no conditions: if you receive Christ you are saved, and if you do not receive Christ, you are not saved, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9, 10). When we believe in Christ we are saved and we are “in Christ,” and we have become members of the body of Christ. Christ is in heaven, so, God sees us as in heavenly places “in Christ” (Ephesians 2:6). He has given to us eternal life and we can’t give that gift back. Eternal life is forever. The work of salvation is God’s work, and we can’t put anything to it or take anything from it (Ecclesiastes 3:14).
