How can I have a blessing from God’s Word?

Question:
How can I have a blessing from God’s Word?

Answer:
By reading and meditating (meditating is thinking over what we have read) we WILL have a blessing from God’s Word. Jeremiah said, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them [he meditated on them]; and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mind heart” (Jeremiah 15:16). So, by reading and meditating on God’s Word we will have JOY IN OUR HEARTS.

Also, by reading and meditating, and obeying His word, we will PROSPER and HAVE GOOD SUCCESS (that is, God’s version of prosperity and good success). Joshua said, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night, that thou mayest OBSERVE TO DO ACCORDING TO ALL THAT IS WRITTEN THEREIN: for then thou shalt make thy way PROSPEROUS, and then thou shalt HAVE GOOD SUCCESS” (Joshua 1:8). Here we see it is not enough to just meditate on God’s Word to receive a blessing, we must also obey it. Jesus no doubt had this in mind when He said, “If you know these things, HAPPY ARE YE IF YE DO THEM” (John 13:17).
A third way to receive a blessing from God’s Word is to SHARE IT WITH  OTHERS. We are told to “go…into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). And when we share the gospel with others, we will experience true joy. Even if those with whom we share the gospel respond with hatred and persecution, we will still encounter joy (see Acts 13:49-52 for a good example of this). And we are to share the Word with other believers as well (see Romans 15:14; Hebrews 10:24,25; Colossians 3:16; etc.). When we share the truth with other Christians, and they walk in the truth, we will again experience true joy (see 3 John 4; 1 Thessalonians 3:9).I am sure there are other ways we can receive a blessing from the Word, but these three especially came to my mind. May each one of us who know the Lord Jesus be found MEDITATING on His Word, OBEYING His Word, and SHARING His Word. Thus we are assured of His blessing.
