Yes, the importance of keeping one’s self pure before marriage has certainly undergone much criticism and mockery.  The Scriptures are very clear that one should abstain from sexual intimacy until marriage. (Read 1 Corinthians 7:2; 1 Thessalonians 4:3,4; Hebrews 13:4.)  Although today’s attitude towards the value and preciousness of one’s virginity has changed, we must realize the unchangeableness of God and His Word.  “I am the LORD, I change not” (Malachi 3:6).
