What are the kinds of love?

Answer:

There are two main kinds of love expressed by the Greek words: agape and phileo.  Agape is unconditional, divine, self-sacrificing, and loves in spite of what is happening.  Phileo is friendship, or when you “really like” something.

Agape love implies commitment.  Love is a blessing, as is faith.  Both come from Christ.  The old nature is not capable of agape love.  In Christ, we can love people who have hurt us or are difficult.  We need to ask the Lord to help us show this love.  We receive the new nature, which is capable of love, when we’re born again.  Love is a proof that we’re saved.
