Question:
When I go to heaven, will I recognize my family members?
Answer:
Though we are not told specifically that we will recognize loved ones in heaven, I believe the Scriptures definitely imply that there will be such recognition. The passages you referred to (Luke 16:19-31; Matthew 17:1-8) imply this, for, as you say, the rich man knew Abraham and the apostles knew Moses and Elias. The fact that the rich man and the apostles had never seen these men before strengthens that argument that we shall indeed know our loved ones (whom we had seen and known before in this life).
